October 2014 Mary Ann's Meanderings I was out yesterday and today Ronda is under the weather. I don't want to "go off into the sunset" without expressing my thanks for your support, creativity and devotion to our students. If you have a chance please come to The Research Paper professional development opportunity on October 29th. Bring teachers who want to work with you. If you haven't been and don't have teachers available come and be excited about the research process.
I will be attending the Copyright presentation at Erie 2 on September 28th, the 29th I will be at the Research Paper and my last day will be the 30th. I am taking Maggie Jensen to the DMV on the 30th as she is selling her car. She is also retiring and leaves for her retirement home on the Island of Roatan in Honduras the next day. Who says BOCES doesn't pay:)
Ronda will be manning the fort from the first week in November until December 1. I can't tell you until official but you will be pleased with my replacement. The system had three very strong candidates. Check back with Ronda after the BOCES board meets. She will be doing at least two newsletters and will keep you informed.
Overdrive is an exciting addition to 510. Many schools are already having students sign out books. Most others will be up and running soon. I see great things for our libraries and e-books. Hopefully the schools and the School Library System can collaborate on diverse systems of delivery. They can only do that if there is a "collaborative collection " available to all who participate.
